What? No Border Run?

Of course we’re doing a border run. It just so happens that this year, we’re touring the memorials in Campagnone Common in Lawrence, which coincidentally lies on the return path from Salem, so we’re getting borders while we’re at it.

Campagnone Common is named for the three Campagnone brothers of Lawrence who gave their lives during World War II.

A number of memorials to our service men and women can be found here. A Civil War memorial, erected in 1881, listing the names of the men from Lawrence who fought for the Union can be found. The common also is the home to the World War II memorial, the Spanish-American War memorial, the Gulf War memorial, and the Korean War memorial. Take a few minutes on your way back and visit.

So I met this girl at the Biergarten…

Frank K found someone who approached him with what was ostensibly a fun-sounding little 5K/Fun Run. Once we rescued him from the creepy old van down by the river, we decided that we might want to investigate these races a little (or any at all) before we send our runners off into danger. Well, it turns out Frank had another one, and this time we checked it out (OK, I clicked into the website for about 20 seconds). Hopefully it will have more detail as the date gets closer, but I tell you all this to let you know I am bringing back the Race Calendar, and will be adding events such as these from time to time. We’ll try to make sure they’re legit.
