BRC Run – 6/02 – Away Game – 7.4 mi [PAY ATTENTION]
Do NOT go to the Common
Time for a bit of experimentation. This Week we’re having an away game. We are NOT starting at the town common. Instead, we’re meeting at the Sharpner’s Pond soccer field parking lot. I checked – there’s no Games until noon or 1 as far as I can find. This is similar to an older route we’ve run, and in the interest of staying off Essex Street, we’ll be hitting the rail trail for a portion of Saturday’s jaunt. http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/2085566911/
Be advised that along the rail trail portion of this run, some farmers occasionally string barbed wire. Do not run into barbed wire. Do not try to jump barbed wire. Carefully cross under the barbed wire and continue to run at a controlled pace. And be nice to any cows.
BRC Hits another Mountain
I’d like to congratulate Speedy Pete, Who went to the top of Mt. Rainier this week. According to Wikipedia, Mount Rainier is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, and the highest mountain in the U.S. state of Washington. It is a large active stratovolcano located 59 miles south-southeast of Seattle, in the Mount Rainier National Park. It is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States and the Cascade Volcanic Arc, with a summit elevation of 14,411 ft.
Perseverance, preparation, and training can take you to the top of the world. Unfortunately for us, Pete also came back. So I guess we’ll keep him. Truly a Great Achievement. Well done, 37!
