BRC Triathlon – 7/14
It’s Been a Whole Year Already?
I can’t believe you haven’t chased me down with torches and pitchforks. I’m not fast. You could have easily overtaken me. Maybe you don’t read these notes, and simply look for the nice little link to tell you where we’re running. Whatever the reason, I appreciate not being lynched. I can hardly believe it has been an entire year since I started writing to you. I still have vague ideas of things that I want to go run, so maybe we’re just getting started.
The BRC Triathlon is Here!
The BRC Triathlon is tomorrow. Find your bike, grab your floaties, and get to the Common in time for the start. Please offer your support and gratitude to Paul O’Neill and Aaron Preston your director and assistant director, and all of the event volunteer staff for all their hard work putting this together.
The BRC Tri is a great event for beginners and pros alike. The race will start at the Common with a 5 mile bike ride out to Boxford followed by a 500 yard swim in Stiles Pond and a 5 mile bike ride back to the Common, and finishing with a 5K run along the July 4th race course. Prizes, prizes, prizes. Even better, there’s bragging rights.
Come TRI it out…(groan)
There’s always another option
Some people are rigidly sticking to their marathon training plans. This week, if you’re hungry for more miles, we feature a 16-miler hosted by Rich Conrad. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/19553190

We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell 'em stories that don't go anywhere – like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Give me five bees for a quarter," you'd say.
Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones…
