BRC Run – 7/22 – 6:45am – A Bit of Gallimaufry
Gallimaufry[ˌɡaləˈmôfrē]
NOUN
A confused jumble or medley of things.
No, I am not as erudite as you may think. I read this word in a blog from Mark Remy while looking for inspiration for my first real route plan. I had a bye last week thanks to Paul O’Neill and the BRC Triathlon (more on that in a minute) and I have sent a rather vanilla note about our upcoming BRC Induction Night. So now I guess I have to put up or shut up.
In the spirit of diversity and miscellany, I thought I would present a plethora of various items for your perusal. A gallimaufry, if you will.
First, huge congratulations to Paul O’Neill for another successful BRC Triathlon. Please offer your congratulations to Peter Belan (1st Place Male) and Lisa Ritchie (1st Place Female) on their outstanding achievement. Then, offer a “Welcome Aboard” to Mr. Aaron Preston, #102, who will take on the duties of Assistant Race Director for 2018, before assuming the Director’s spot for the 10th Annual BRC Triathlon in 2019. Great job to all of you. And great job to all of the finishers. See Table 1 below for full results and commentary from Paul. Also, I present Paul’s carefully curated official pictures for the 2017 BRC TRI: https://www.flickr.com/photos/125651122@N06/sets/72157683818191103/
Second, VERY IMPORTANT: Don’t forget next Tuesday night we have a BRC Induction to hold for our four newest members, Chris, Nick, Tara, and Sue. Find your Dress Whites and be at Culpeppers on Tuesday, July 25th at about 7pm. Do it.
Next, I was reading random sporting news (variety, mélange) and saw that FC Juventus is returning to Gillette Stadium for a second appearance (ever?) next weekend, playing against AS Roma. Bummer for me. I’m seeing the Revs the day before. That got me to thinking about an older route where we go and visit the different pitches in our own town. As a result, I humbly submit you with the BRC Soccer Field Tour http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/456254174.
Finally, over the coming weeks, we will see different things. Always help by reading to the end. I may be offering clues, free booze, or asking for your help!
Now where did I put that beer?
Erik
