Labor Day Weekend

Last weekend for vacations so attendance may be spotty this weekend, I get it. Lots of back-to-school shopping may keep others away but for the life of me I can’t imagine why. Surely some runners will show up and you will not be disappointed. Unless, of course, you wanted to run somewhere else then you might be slightly put out. Where does one run for Labor Day? One idea had to do with maternity wards but this is only 50% universal (kind of like urinals) and it seemed a bit of a reach not to mention pandering. So we will skip that option.

Labor of Love

Not a trick question, what run is difficult but we still love to do it? Sorry, that is a trick question, that would be an empty set. The closest I could come up with is Haverhill the Hard Way. Veterans of this run will remember that it is 10.3 miles if you run the mapped loop below. It is a smidge over 12 miles if you do it the hard way. And if we have any RWOBs in tow, a detour to the Boxford border will add a few more tenths onto the trip.

Speaking of Laboring

The Ultra Border Crawl is loosely on the schedule for 10/8. I say loosely because it can be moved to any weekend in October. Please reply to me if you have even the remotest interest in participating this year. (Rob, I still owe you an explanation of what exactly the Crawl is, but trust me, you want in.) The goal is to make this the biggest year yet for knocking off all borders in one day. To that end, I’ll be leading the Casual Crew of runners who will enjoy the full tour of North Andover at a manageable pace. Give me a shout, let me know what weekend will be best.
