BRC Run – 4/8 – 6:45AM – Marathon Tune Up – 10.3 Miles

We’re into marathon season and all the training should be in the bag. All that is left is some fine tuning. This week we’re going to focus on a oft-ignored part of training; what to think about while you’re gadding about between Hopkinton and Boston. To that end, we have a double workout planned. The first is to keep the legs in top shape. The latter is to get your brain right.
Final Tune-Up
Not sure what distance you’re supposed to run on the final weekend before a marathon but 10 miles feels about right. Let’s try this on for size.

Mental Diversion
Let’s face it, during a marathon, you have plenty of me time. You can think about lots of things or maybe nothing. Perhaps you try something productive. Try this one out tomorrow.
As I traveled up and down our great glorious country, I found myself in a place where the temperature goes up sharply in the day and down at night. This had an effect on my watch, I noticed it was 1/2 a minute faster at nightfall, but at dawn it had lost 1/3 minute, making it only 1/6 minute fast.
One morning- April 1- my watch showed the right time. By what date was it 5 minutes faster?
