BRC Now on Spotify

Hi all — we’ve set up a Spotify account for the BRC!

For those unfamiliar with it, Spotify is a music streaming service with some social features baked into it. There is an ad-supported free version (so you listen a 30-second commercial every 6 songs or so) and there’s a premium version that does away with the ads and lets you listen offline as well. Our account is about as ready as it’s going to be, so we may as well start using it. If you’re interested, read the next few paragraphs for all the details, including a little bit of a catch that you’ll need to know about.

The plan is for the BRC Spotify account to be a place where members can create playlists of songs and share those playlists with whomever’s interested, club members or otherwise. It’s an opportunity to share your favorite songs with the club and the world. It doesn’t matter if the songs are running-related: tee up whatever songs you want!

Sounds great, but what’s that catch? Like we said, it’s a little one: for reasons we won’t get into here you’re probably not going to be able to find our account if you use the Spotify search function. Instead, you need to use one of the links in this email to go directly to the BRC Spotify page. After you’ve used the link the first time, then it should then start to show up when you search from within Spotify.

So, the links. Here is the link to the BRC’s Spotify profile. Coming out of the gate, we have four playlists: Frank D’s Picks, Don’t Wait For Us’s Picks, The BRC Songs of Christmas, and after a protracted and brutal negotiation we have secured the selections of celebrity mixmaster and noted tastemaker DJ Giant Baby Head. We’ve also created a Spotify page on the BRC web site where you can also find all this stuff.

Finally, and most importantly, we want your playlists too! If you’ve got a running mix or a workout mix or a clean-the-house mix or anything, share it with us! Just reach out to Frank D or Paul G and they’ll work with you to get things set up.

Now let’s see how long it takes for us to break it. Until then, hope you enjoy it!
