I can’t believe it’s here!

The most magical time on the whole BRC calendar and I almost missed it. I’m so focused on myself and the 19 miles I’m running Saturday that I almost didn’t get this put together. Everything is sneaking up on me this year. There were so many ideas I had to try to make this as memorable a run for you as it is for me. Can’t top Zeke’s appearance. Trying to channel Seuss would just be derivative. Stupid injuries interrupting my training for Disney; no lights on the house yet. Three times as much work to get done in the time available before people disappear from the office for their private little holiday…

Wait…WAIT!

Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas Run. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas Run since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny [CENSORED]ing Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white [CENSORED] down that chimney next week, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of [CENSORED]holes this side of the nuthouse.

But what’s the plan?

Many of you have been to the Christmas Run in the past. For those of you not in the know, we’re running from the Commons to a secret destination for merriment and refreshments. Bring folding money for adult beverages and for charity donations. This is a point-to-point run, where we eat, drink and are merry at the finish. You’ll need a ride back to the Commons.

In order to get there on time, we’ll be leaving the start at the commons in 3 waves:

 ·      9:10am: The Santa Group – you’re carrying a hefty “sack of toys,” or you were out a little late Friday night with the “fun” elves, and had too much eggnog.

·       9:20am: Jolly Elves – You’re spry and delightful to behold. You’ll have no trouble following Santa and picking up the gifts he might accidentally drop along the way.

·       9:30am: Magical Reindeer – You’re the reason Santa can get all around the world in one night. Speedy and resilient, it will be easy enough for you to reach secret destination in time for group pictures.

As usual “It’s All About The Kids”

Make SURE to bring folding money with you to help out a family in need. Andrew McDevitt (who Santa says should run more often) is once again coordinating a donation to the charity “It’s All About The Kids.” Each year around this time, he has said they get a last-minute family in need, and it really helps that we are able to donate the way we do.
